  54. ===== Information for Users ("READ-ME") ================

  56.    "vt" is a vocabulary trainer (can be used for anything else that
  57. fits in, too), that works on the principles of a flash card file, i.e.
  58. first asking the words you didn't remember last time and then going on
  59. with those you already kept in mind for a certain time. The words you
  60. remembered will be asked after always longer intervals, whereas those
  61. you didn't know have to be repeated the very next time again. The
  62. intervals can be set individually for each fileset you create,
  63. according to your own preferences.

  65.    The original distribution is delivered without any vocabulary. The
  66. words can either be entered by the user or imported from text or data
  67. files. (See file VT.TXT for more information.)

  69.    In addition to the trainer, editor, import, and export features,
  70. the program also offers a search facility and fileset information. Key
  71. and colour settings can be changed by using the program VTCFG.EXE.

  93. ===== Installation =====================================

  95.    It is recommended that you create a directory on your hard disk
  96. (e.g. \VT) and copy all the files included in the package into it.
  97. Basically, all you need is the program VT.EXE, but if you want to
  98. change keys and colours, you also need the program VTCFG.EXE. You
  99. might also want to view or print the manual in file VT.TXT.

  101.    When you run VT.EXE for the first time you will be asked to enter a
  102. fileset name, the intervals you want, and whether you want to import
  103. words or enter them yourself. The program then creates two files:
  104. <fileset>.STG and <fileset>.DAT, one containing the intervals (stage
  105. table), the other containing vocabulary and additional information.
  106.  
  107.    Next time you run VT.EXE (either by entering 'vt <fileset>' at the
  108. command prompt or just 'vt' and be asked for the fileset name), the
  109. program will first load the files and then show the main menu. Now you
  110. are ready to exercise (or whatever you want to).

  119. 'vt' is supplied as is. The author disclaims all warranties, expressed
  120. or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of
  121. merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no
  122. liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from
  123. the use of 'vt'.

  125. 'vt' has been tested and improved over a period of three years before
  126. it was published. There are no further versions planned, except for
  127. the unlikely case that serious bugs occur. If you have problems using
  128. 'vt', that cannot be solved by following the instructions in the
  129. documentation, you may contact the author for further advice. If the
  130. problems can't be solved satisfactorily and you find you are not able
  131. to use 'vt', you may ask for a refund of your registration payment.

  133. 'vt' is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user
  134. for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do
  135. not give it away altered or as part of another system. If you find
  136. this program useful and find that you are using 'vt' and continue to
  137. use 'vt' after a reasonable trial period, you have to make a
  138. registration payment of $5 to the author.

  141. should there be any, with the exception that, if there is a major
  142. upgrade in functionality, the registration fee will be raised. In that
